Lacrosse Camps are great learning experiences for players of all ages.
No matter what your skill level, if you are serious about lacrosse, then you should go to at least one lax camp every summer.
Most camps offer a one-week learning and instructional period during the summer, for players of all ages to attend.
Here are some Lacrosse Camp tips to help you get the most out of your camp experience:
TIP #1 While you are at lax camp, you should try to get some one-on-one time with an instructor to improve on something. Think of it this way, you (or your parents) are paying for you to go to camp, so you should try to get as much out of it as you can.
LAX Camp Tips
TIP #2 Research very thoroughly which camp you want to go to, then research some more. These camps can get very costly, and put a huge dent in the bank account. That is why I have done all the research to show you the cheapest lacrosse camps in America. If you would prefer to search for a specific lacrosse camp, then just pick from this list: Warrior, Brine, Millon, MVP, Xcelerate, and Players Choice.
TIP #3 Take advantage of the deals that they have there. Many camps are sponsored by companies that sell their own equipment, and will probably be offering huge discounts. Stock up on everything that you need. It may hurt your cash supply now, but you will save hundreds in the future.
TIP #4 Talk to coaches about scholarhips. If you think you are good enough to get a scholarship for lacrosse, then now is the time to talk to someone about it. There will be tons and tons of coaches there. You may think that they are just working the camps for a little extra money, but what they are really doing is scouting the upcoming talent and looking for players to recruit. If you want to be recruited, then talk to them about it.
TIP #5 If you can, then go with one of your teammates. LAX camps improve individual skills greatly, but in order for the team to greatly benefit from them, you need to take a few teammates with you. Playing a week straight of lacrosse together will help you get to know how your teammate plays (what his strengths and weaknesses are).
TIP #6 In the words of Forrest Gump, "Those look like comfortable shoes." Make sure you have good shoes, because the only time you will be off your feet is when you are sleeping. Shoes that give you blisters is the key to having a bad lacrosse camp experience. I suggest going to Great Atlantic Lacrosse, and picking yourself out a pair of "comfortable shoes."
